Best of the Moon: Best tracks of the months – New Year Edition
Welcome to the Moon!
2022 just started, and we’re thrilled to introduce you to some great new releases that we encountered during the month of December.
While everyone was listening to Mariah Carey, we actually spent a lot of time searching for the best jams of this Christmas period.
As always we were able to gather a great number of genres from electronic to pop so that all our readers can enjoy our reviews.
We wish all the artists we covered this month and all our readers an amazing 2022 ahead with lots of electronic music and music festivals.
LET’S START OUR TRIP TO THE MOON:
RED SKIES MOURNING – “DEEP MOONLIGHT”
Red Skies Mourning is a project based in Baltimore, US, which just released a new tune called Deep Moonlight which was influenced by The Legend of Zelda. It’s easy to feel immersed in a video game while listening to this tune, and this great production blinks the eye to similar arrangements from the likes of The Weeknd and Post Malone.
That’s the second tune after the rebranding of this great music project and we can’t wait to see where this electronic pop-infused path is going to lead.
DZILL – “WANT ME LIKE THAT”
Dzill is a DJ and producer from New York, with several releases on Gameroom Recordings, a subsidiary of the iconic Tiesto founded Blackhole Recordings. Dzill was able to gather more than 500.00 streams on Spotify alone, and his new track “Want me Like That” easily shows us why so much buzz around him. The track is an electro house tune that amazingly fits on a club might and on a happy hour sunset party on a beach of Ibiza.
This greatly produced Tropical House song showed us that he definitely deserves the support he had from other DJs such as Martin Garrix, Don Diablo, Deadmau5, Sam Feldt, Slushii and Sikdope. If you like Electronic House you MUST include him on your personal playlist.
JUSTINA SHANDLER – “STAMINA”
Justina Shandler‘s new song called Stamina, is an incredibly catchy pop tune, you absolutely need to listen to when you feel a little down and need, indeed, just a little Stamina to go through the day. As the singer from Los Angeles explains, her song it’s about her resilience and relentless pursuit of truth and following the path that lights her up the most.
The chorus’ catchiness makes the melody easily stuck in your head. She said she stopped writing about boys, but we seriously wouldn’t mind as long as she’d keep her peculiar vocal style and viral energy.
NICO P – “ANAMATA”
Nico P just came back with a new track called Anamata. Nico P is definitely not new to the game, with more than two decades under his belt, playing at the busiest parties in Belgium. He has proved also with this track his expertise in the Deep House genre. The progressive theme on this track is incredibly well produced and versatile for all kinds of DJ sets.
A great tune for every progressive house aficionado, which will be definitely hooked by the more tribal features of the track which makes you dive in a warmer landscape, giving more depth to the track.
MOR2DEKAI – “Take Me Higher”
Mor2dekai is a producer from Toronto, Canada. His new tune called “Take Me Higher”, definitely takes you higher. This track straightly dives into some super catchy EDM style reminiscing of the mid-2000s with a sound that reminds David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia early works.
Producing everything in his bedroom, Mor2dekai refers to himself as a bedroom producer, although his production definitely aims for a busy club night DJ-set. The vocals greatly performed convey some nice nostalgia that fits perfectly with the instrumentals of the track.
sydneyunicorns – “The Crown”
sydneyunicorns defines herself as a” producer, songwriter, singer, visual artist, alien, and unicorn”, and she definitely proves herself with her third single “The Crown”. Even though she’s a self-taught producer she proves with his track to really know how to manage a multi-layered arrangement and production.
Although the track results very catchy to the ear, it still maintains an ethereal and dark layer that gives a peculiar veil of mystery that makes the listening experience very entertaining. A versatile sing and producer that we’ll definitely keep under our radar.
CLASS VEE – “WHERE DO WE STAND”
Let’s dive back to the ’80s with a strong tune from Class Vee.
American singer, songwriter, and producer with a Dominican background, Class Vee just started her brand new solo project. Her latest release Where Do We Stand is the right boost of retro vibes we need, featuring clean and punchy drums, astonishing electronic sounds, and powerful vocals.
The track is really solid, enjoyable from beginning to end, we honestly loved it. One of the best tracks to kick off this 2021 and jump into the new year! Waiting for more releases from this incredible artist!
KOA – “KISSING ON K”
KOA is a duo formed by two brothers, Austin and Jagger Spacy. Austin is a professional dancer and actor who lately dived into music production, Jagged is a songwriter and rapper.
These guys are working together to give life to a very interesting project. Their latest release Kissing On K is their 4th release of 2021: an experimental hip-hop production with an infusion of emotional electronic sounds that will give you goosebumps.
Nostalgic mood and melancholic vibes are a strong point on the tune, with remarkable vocal hooks we’re pretty sure this tune will be stuck in your head for a while.
EMMA MAE – “HOLLYWOOD”
Another very young talent on this list, Emma Mae is a 21 years old singer and songwriter based in London. From the usual Bitchpop Genre she usually shares, her latest release though is quite different from her other productions.
Released just two weeks ago, Hollywood is a nostalgic and intimate soundtrack: Emma’s voice is warm and soft on the melancholic piano chords during verses, while getting strong and confident on the choruses with the right dynamic of subtle percussions and wide strings.
An emotional tune we highly recommend, just try to hold your tears!
NIGHTLY GATHERING – “FADE INTO STARS“
You all know we always put up the most refined and interesting music on our blog, but
Nightly Gatherings stands up with an incredible brand new album that is out of this world.
Connor Johnson (Aka Nightly Gatherings) is a songwriter and producer from a small city in California, US. I best describe his new album as an experience, a journey to something new and undiscovered that brings you a lot of different emotions all at once.
His style is very unique and reminds us of Porter Robinson, Bon Iver, and Madeon.
You can’t miss this one, make sure you listen to the entire album and not just the track included in our Best Of The Month!
CHILLHUM – “SNOW“
Ethan Bedell (aka Chillhum) is a guitarist, songwriter, and musician from Colorado.
This incredible artist is just 23 years old, he started producing music back in 2018.
Chillhum’s sound is a mix of indie pop, electronic sounds, and groovy beats combined with incredibly catchy guitar lines and nostalgic vocals.
His latest release Snow is the perfect expression of his unique style, a high-quality indie/chill pop production, with particular attention to the sound design, that gave us a very relaxed feeling. Rare sound, a must listen!
MIA MORMINO – “POUR ANOTHER“
Couldn’t miss in our top pick for the last month of the year an amazing pop artist that already released several hits: Mia Mormino.
Her style is a mix of Billie Ellish, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande; with an astonishing voice and polished lyrics, Mia gives life to some innovative and entertaining productions that will keep you company on any occasion. Her latest release Pour Another is another standing-out hit thanks to her uninhibited personality, along with a music video for this release that was directed by herself.
