Best of the Moon: Best Tracks of the Month – Chapter Nine
Welcome to the Moon!
Are you ready for this one? We are ready for it. These are the best tunes from this September and we had a lot of fun listening to all these incredible artists.
As always during the Best Of The Moon, we don’t look at genres and bring you the best in Electronic, Pop, and RnB music.
That’s a lot to cover up today, but we will promise you that the 10 music projects we will present to you today are going to brighten your day and give you the strength to accept that indeed Summer is freaking finished and you need to get over it… seriously. We are also talking to ourselves as well by the way, we are still not over it…
Let the journey to the moon begin.
WOTTS – “NO TAKE BACKS”
Did someone say Wotts? Yes, exactly! They are back with another tune, and as we know, they never disappoint us. For those who don’t know this sick duo yet, we recommend you read something about them here for their latest cover, or here for one of their previous releases.
“No Take Backs” is their latest single released just a month ago: even though their style is easily distinguishable, we noticed that their sound becomes stronger with every release, with a brighter and more polished sound selection.
In this tune, they bring in a sort of funky style and a hint of 90s vibes, featuring a solid groovy bassline and some catchy vocal lines. Of course, these are the hot points of the track, but the song carries something even hotter: we talking about all the little details around the song, from the drum fills, to the distortion fx added to the vocals, the guitar solos and the incredible sounding synths, this tune is a masterpiece that will hook you like crazy with its nostalgic vibes. This is quite unmissable in our opinion, don’t miss out!
SOFIA EVANGELINA – “Get Outta My Head”
Our next host is the incredibly young talent SOFIA EVANGELINA. She is a Canadian singer and songwriter based in Dubai. Her style is a mix of soul/R&B/pop, with a unique and characteristic voice: clean, angelic, soft, and powerful when needed, this amazing artist will surely hit your soul with her majestic music.
“Get Outta My Head” is her first single out in 2022 with other songs soon to come out anticipating her upcoming album in 2023. Sofia Evangelina is only 19, yet her voice, themes and attitude sound way more mature.
The production that surrounds her vocals is incredibly well-curated merging different genres, and instrumentations that often are left behind in today’s music.
The bassline is outstanding here, and the added subs make the release sound even more modern, piano and synths create an ethereal layer that gives enough space to Sofia and her crazy melody lines to really shine. She has a bright future ahead and we wish her all the best.
ALLEGRA – “He Ain’t You”
Allegra is a British artist, singer, and songwriter, with over 10k monthly listeners and many releases, remixed by many producers like R3hab, just to name one.
We don’t wonder why artists love to remix her music: Allegra is an incredible talent, and her voice will get stuck in your head once you listen to any of her songs, you will never get enough of it!
Her latest release is called “He Ain’t You”, a stunning pop production that got remixed by other artists, giving life to a brilliant EP that features 4 incredible remixes of this song.
The one we liked the most is the one remixed by Sebastian Perez, a worldwide DJ & Music Producer from Europe, who has recently shot into the limelight in the past 12 months, with chart-topping remixes and productions.
His take on “He Ain’t You” is something phenomenal: a dance remix with a hint of that game-changing 90s vibes, featuring a solid groove and a polished sound design. Needless to talk about the quality of the mix, everything is unbelievably clean and all the elements are easily noticeable. Such a wonderful tune, we are pretty sure you’ll fall in love with this one!
ENISA – “Zoom”
We’re very excited to have with us a stunning singer and songwriter with millions of streams and half a million followers around the world: we want to give a warmly welcome to ENISA!
This incredible artist has a notable and impressive voice, a vocal timbre extremely characteristic, and a flow that will definitely hook you like crazy.
Her latest release “Zoom” is a dance/pop tune that honestly left us speechless by the quality of the production: a minimal and clean sound design with catchy vocal lines and remarkable drops.
The groove and the sound of the drums are the main focus along the vocals, making sure that the listener gets engaged with a great rhythm to let them dance.
Enisa has the ability to capture your ears with these “never-granted” melodies and captivating lyrics, combined with the perfect musical arrangement, this song is definitely a solid hit that will be listened to for a long time. The song is 2-minutes long, that’s the reason why we can’t get enough of it: It’s too short! Since 2 minutes are already gone, we’re going to press play again! Don’t miss out!
KRIS JAMES – “The Way You Move”
We fly over to United Kingdom for this next artist. He’s an amazing singer, fresh from an amazing Tour supporting Anastacia, and his name is Kris James.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Kris was chosen to play before such a great pop star as Anastacia, as Kris James songs are extremely catchy and present a happy pop formula that will make you forget that summer is over.
He’s last single is called “The Way You Move” and it is also his first single in 2022, an Anthemic Pop tune with some Funk inspiration, perfect for everyone that misses early 2000s pop tunes, the ones that were all over the radio and made your summer special. Kris’ vocals are extremely passionate and heartfelt, and we are incredibly in love with his falsettos.
Kris also released an EP full of great remixes of this absolute banger, which you can listen to here.
7000APART – “Whole Lot Left To Lose”
We now present you a band with an incredible story behind. They are called 7000apart, and the duo is formed by Amelie Eiding and Jon Kresin. That’s a husband-wife pop duo that met each other during high school. She traveled to United States to Sweden and fell in love with Jon.
She eventually had to come back to Sweden, but luckily this incredible couple manage to marry in 2016, and the band is indeed called 700apart referring to the miles of the distance they ended up being.
They just released their third single in 2022 and it is called “Whole Lot Left to Lose” and that’s an extremely catchy Indie Pop tune with a whistled chorus melody that will get stuck in your head for a long long time. Talking about insecurities and some mental states that might end up limiting us, that’s a tune that will inspire you while being incredibly pop yet honest. If you’re having a bad day, this song and this band in general will cheer you up for sure.
TAYLOR B-W – “BTW TBW”
Now we have, an incredibly catchy pop release to present to you. We are now jumping in the sunny Sydney in Australia and bring to you Taylor B-W, she just released her EP called “BTW TBW” an impressive 6-song release, that will surprise you for its incredible catchiness and even pathos on some of its songs.
This was produced by Liam Quinn (Rita Ora, Lime Cordiale, Peach PRC), and the first tune is called “I’m so Broke” which is the perfect introduction to Taylor’s music, very catchy and funny track, written during the second lockdown in Sydney. Indeed, the EP talks about Taylor’s life over the past 6 years.
She also jumps into other genres including reggaeton but always keeping those melody lines that often reminisces 90s or early 2000s pop songs, which in our opinion were the best decades for pop music. Walk On Fire, Tears Of Coal and Stain are incredibly anthemic and seem written for even bigger pop stars like Beyonce or Lady Gaga for all the energy they bring, and Taylor is in fact proving to be absolutely worthy of sharing the stage with bigger stars.
CHRISTINA LI – “No Sleep”
Christina Li is a singer-songwriter from New York City and she recently released her new song “No Sleep”. Christina’s voice is incredibly dreamy and soothing, especially in her last tune.
This dream pop track has a very peculiar theme, talking about the beginning of her relationship with her girlfriend, not yet ready to come out.
The song conveys perfectly that feeling of intimacy, and the chord progression and arrangement fit perfectly the storytelling, with a Soul and RnB feel that sounds extremely new, calming yet uplifting.
This song made us feel really dreamy and also in love, as you can feel the pure love flowing out of this extremely catchy tune, and we are sure you will feel it too, making your day more colorful and positive.
LUKX – “Get Shit Done”
Let’s get shit done. C’mon let’s be serious. We all have shit to finish, and sometimes we leave all this stuff behind, but if you need to have something that will help you move your ass, you can definitely listen to Lukx‘s last tune called “Get Shit Done”.
This last release from Belgian singer and rapper is a father and son effort that sounds extremely consistent. Merging elements from Hip Hop to Rap and Pop, this tune makes us feel also a lot of UK street vibes.
This tune helped us Get Shit Done, we probably wouldn’t have been able to finish the article if it wasn’t for this single, or at least it inspired us to get it done and move to some of our other shit. The beat has some future bass synth and groovy drum that will make moving your ass on the dancefloor, or at least headbanging in front of the laptop like us.
K-SYRAN – “So In Love With You”
We are excited to have with us this multi-talented artist with loads of experience, releasing music since 2014 and hitting US billboards: this is K-SYRAN.
She’s not just a normal singer, she’s also an actress, author, director, and lyricist, not to mention as an impassioned activist for women’s rights.
Her latest release “So In Love With You” in collaboration with StoneBridge came out as a single in 3 different versions: one radio edit, one extended mix, and one club mix edited by Block & Crown: this is a great stylistic choice and we loved that fact that we can listen to the different variations of the song.
The StoneBridge Mix got us with its amazing groove and the catchy melodies, combined with the angelic vocals of K-SYRAN its pretty difficult to stay still on the dance floor, it will definitely makes you move like crazy untill the end of the party!
We are pretty sure you’ll get “so in love with it”!
