Space Discovery: NORR
Welcome back to another Space Discovery!
Today we’ll introduce a fairly new artist from Stockholm: NORR.
Sebastian Rydgren is a talented singer and songwriter with an incredible voice, just 18 years old he has already released 3 singles.
His latest one is his first song in English and is called “Silence”: a pop production with a hint of 80’s sound which we actually enjoyed a lot, extremely characteristic sound.
The song starts very softly, with an interesting guitar tune accompanying Norr’s voice: these 2 merge rhythmically together in the perfect way, opening to the pre-chorus straight away where the kick and the bass join the track to sustain it with some groove.
And here comes the incredible part, where the track leads to the chorus, and it’s not what you were expecting it to be: it’s much better. Retro synths, ambient plucks, high-pitched vocals, all of this just brought us on the clouds and did let us enjoy the view from there.
This is an incredible track suitable for many occasions, very versatile and difficult to dislike.
Thanks for your incredible music and we look forward to listening to your next releases!
And now let’s see what Norr has to tell us with our 3 topical questions presentation!
Congratulations on your new release! Briefly present yourself to our Space Travellers!
I’m NORR, an 18-year old singer and songwriter from Stockholm, Sweden. I’m the youngest of three siblings. I’ve been singing since an early age; done lots of live performances as well as participated in both TV and radio shows in Sweden. In addition to my music, I also do some modeling and acting for TV series and commercials.
I write and co-produce all of my songs and release my music via my own label, Norrona Music. I love to combine different music genres in my songs to enhance the lyrics and emotions.
What’s the story behind your latest release?
The song, ‘silence’ is about being in a relationship where the other party has stopped answering. When you spend all your time trying to understand what has changed and why you are suddenly treated like air, as if you no longer exist. It is about when you stop fighting for the relationship and when you no longer can wait for a change.
The situation is something that I and others have experienced and that I believe almost everyone can relate to, both when it comes to romantic relationships as well as when you suddenly feel neglected by a close friend.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m writing new material and will continue releasing new music. I’m also planning to perform live, now when the society has started to open up again.
If you had a time machine, in which era would you travel and which kind of music would you bring with you in the past?
I would not travel way back in history, instead I would travel to the early 80’s to meet artists like Prince and Freddie Mercury. I would bring my own music ideas, to learn from them an get their influence and inspiration to improve my own writing and develop new music based on a combination of those two musical geniuses and my own ideas.
