Space Review: FancyNormal – “Fiasco”
Welcome to Space!
Time to play some groovy pop music on our speakers today!
FancyNormal just released a fresh new tune, “Fiasco”, and we literally can’t stop listening to this one!
FancyNormal is a Melbourne Pop duo based in Australia, formed by Noni (singer) and Jules (producer) where during lockdown decided to create something very special, a mix of 80’s/pop music with influences from Carly Rae Japsen and M83.
Jules just started producing in the past year, but he originally started as a pianist when he was a teenager. He jumped later on into a hardcore band as a bass player, and now producing some groovy tunes with the experience gained thanks to his studies.
Noni has a beautiful voice, soft and delicate but also confident and intense: self-taught, this natural talent girl will definitely surprise you.
Fiasco has a sparkling funky pop style with a groovy beat that won’t let you stop moving!
It starts with a short intro where an ambient pad plays this “theme-opening” style chords, getting more intense along with some fxs.
We’ll hear then Noni’s voice joining the track with very soft and calm vocal lines.
The vocals are accompanied by a groovy drum pattern with some enchanting percussions fills, which gives the track some vintage/retro vibes, also thanks to the sample used.
The chorus plays straight after the verse, the drumbeat changes to a bit more static but the addition of some magical guitars and some very big pads help the track to get an outstanding wideness.
Vocals become more energic and intense, and the way Noni sings helps keeps the chorus groovy.
We loved the sound design during this part, all the elements are alternating playing at the right time and this helps us understand what is going on in the track.
This tune is a pleasure to listen to, with brilliant production and an impressive mixdown that gives the track a specific sound vibe, we definitely recommend a listen.
You’ll find it on our playlist of the month Galactic Expedition.
See you in the next review,
