Space Review: PHARAOHS -“Fable”
Welcome to Space!
We’re very excited to present you the music project PHARAOHS, an electronic duo formed by Kendall James and Brett Sellwood.
This dynamic duo is based in the Gold Coast, Australia. You probably would expect a sunny and happy-chill tune that talks about the ocean from a project based on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Instead, PHARAOHS brought dark electronica with melancholic-driven vocals that will definitely take you company on your most nostalgic nights.
Although PHARAOHS are very new to the game, they entered with a track that already sets their sound with a solid production and stable aesthetic.
Their first single “Fable” is an eclectic EDM track with many influences from the genre. The drum and ear-candies in the tune have a Techno-Minimal inspiration which reminds of Meduza’s early songs. The reverbed vocals in the background make the tune stand out from other electronic productions, transporting the listener into a dreamy realm.
During the bridge, a lead synth enters in the soundscape, reminiscing Example’s first material. This made us feel some nice nostalgia about past electronic music festivals, an event where this song would sound perfecly.
The track has a subtle sound and synth sound design akin to the Synthwave genre, especially at the end of the song.
They define their sound as “Escapism Electronica” and we absolutely felt this while listening to “Fable”. That’s a tune that puts you in a dream state, feeling melancholic and uplifted in the same moment. On a night where you’re in the car coming back home from a busy club night, that’s the perfect tune that will accompany you home.
Make sure you listen to it on our playlist of the month “Best Of The Moon”!
See you in the next review,
Stay Sour!
